Wilderness in its prime, remote hilly destination, not the kind of place that is significantly noted on the tourist map (which is a bliss!), and almost completely unknown to even a seasoned trekker. Youreka Pinewood Cliff (www.youreka.in) Sitlakhet, in Uttarakhand offers camping activities for adventure enthusiasts and a spectacular view of the mighty snow covered Himalayas. With a tranquil setting and thick forests around, the camp offers complete relaxation of body and soul. Well ventilated tents with basic amenities add comfort to the stays.
One can get an unforgettable experience at the tent of the camping site. Accommodation is in spacious double fly tented units with beds, mattresses, pillows and quilts, western style toilet, bathroom with running water, hot water, and a very courteous and friendly staff. All in all, it is an ideal short holiday getaway to escape the everyday grind and rediscover yourself and nature as an individual couple or simply have a great time as a family.
Truly a relaxing stay, the camp offers quality services. The in-house kitchen serves home-styled food for all meals in its spacious dining area. The food was just awesome, in fact at times we just wondered that how can a village cook serve us such delicacies. Any food item which used to figure in our conversation on the dining table was served to us in the next meal.
We talked about pasta, noodles, choley bhature and they were cooked and served. I just mentioned about the local dessert delicacy of the area – the BAL MITHAI once, and the staff at the camp made it sure that it was bought from Ranikhet the next day and served to us.
Visiting a campsite in the hills and not enjoying adventure activities!!! That’s not possible here. One can and should indulge in activities like rock climbing, rappelling, Zip line, trekking, etc. There are instructors at the camp to teach you a few tricks and make your stay here more enjoyable.
There are plenty of options available even if you prefer to be just by yourself and enjoy nature – like bird watching, wildlife, enjoying wild Himalayan flowers etc.
We trekked for about 3 kms to reach the Siyahi Devi Temple, but on our way were chased by fierce dogs (which is not normal for mountain dogs). The view of the valley and also the camp from the village was quite awesome. Next day it was rock climbing and rappelling, and a visit to the nearby Organic farm. At the farm once can experience Rose farming and extraction of Rose water and Rose oil, taste and buy some naturally grown pulses, spices, fruits n flowers.
I am sure, for anybody visiting the camp for a short holiday it will definitely be very difficult to go back and he would surely want to extend his stay or would long to come back to the camp at the earliest. At least I would love to get back to the camp….
