India Gate – as everyone knows is a War Memorial at the centre of New Delhi. Designed by Edwin Lutyens, India gate is 42 m high and is often compared with the  “Arc- de-Triomphe”  of Paris, France. The archway in the middle of a crossroad, commemorates thousands of Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I.

After independence,  Amar Jawan Jyoti was added to the memorial and the eternal Jyoti  burns day and night under the arch in memory of soldiers who laid down their lives in Indo-Pakistan War of  December 1971.
