During one of my frequent trips to Chandigarh, I had a chance to stay at the Park Plaza Hotel, Zirakpur. This was my first experience at the Park Plaza and I should say that it turned out to be a great one. Luxurious and spacious rooms, amazing food at both the dining options and great drinks at the lounge, the swimming pool, the fitness centre, the spa, and above all, and the grandest of all – the banquet area (one of the largest banqueting space I have seen in a hotel like this), everything was fabulous.
The location of the hotel is a plus point. Located in the heart of the city on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway, this elegant hotel is conveniently located close to the airport, railway station and multiple shopping options. Major tourist option of the city are also in close proximity. Sukhna Lake, Rock gardens, Gurudwara Nada Sahib, Mansa Devi Temple are just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel.

The two dining options Essence serving International cuisine and Zaranj specialising in traditional authentic Punjabi food are managed by Executive Chef Raman Preet Singh Ahluwalia. And what a great work he does with the food. His vision is so clear and his brilliance hypnotise the guest.
Throughout our stay we were treated with amazing food from India, Chinese, Continental, regional, and International cuisines. Local Punjabi delicacies like Butter Chicken, Aloo-Wadi made us go overboard and overfeed ourselves. The exotic desserts served were world class and I had to go in for a repeat. Food was amazing and the service staff provided an elegant and unobtrusive dining experience.
The luxurious lounge bar, free spirit, featured the best concoctions supervised by a highly creative mixologist who offered us a superb collection of wines and liqueurs and also snacks for a perfect evening. The softness and delicacy of Dahi ke Kabab served with the drinks showed the expertise of the kitchen staff here. And the pool table in the lounge was a perfect setup to build new relations with likeminded guests. The lounge also had outdoor seating arrangements around the open air swimming pool for people who prefer fresh air along with the drinks.
The courteous staff and the management team headed by Mr Michael were always there to help the guests and see that they were comfortable. In fact I guess Park Plaza Zirakpur from now on is going to be my only address while I am in Chandigarh.
