MOMO Cafe, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan

DSC_0041I got relaxed after the 3-hour road journey from Mumbai as the towering building of The Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan, located in the industrial hub of Chakan was visible from the highway. Recently I was at the hotel for two days. The ambiance of the place is like any other Marriott properties, huge and lavish, but the food is one of the best here.

Chakan, one of the busiest bustling manufacturing and auto hub near Pune has the distinction of having this hotel and in the hotel exists a fabulous restaurant serving multi-cuisine food in a plush 5-star ambience. It gives you a choice of both indoor as well as outdoor sitting to enjoy a super meal at Café MOMO.

As I was staying here for two days I had the pleasure of trying out Café MOMO on multiple occasions for their buffet breakfast, lunch and evening snacks either by the poolside or on the lovely open air porch in front of Café MOMO.

The place lives up to be a Marriott. The lobby and MOMO cafe are huge and easy on the eyes. Nothing extravagant but elegant and well kept. The staff is cheerful and well-behaved. I was amazed by the variety of food they had prepared. And yes, every dish was delectable to the core. The food was perfectly cooked and was maintained at the right temperature (neither too hot nor too cold, just

Coming to the variety of food at Café Momo – it is fantastic, authentic in flavours and international -you would want to try everything, Chinese, Indian, Continental, Italian or some special world cuisine delicacies. Let me start with the breakfast.

The buffet breakfast is enormous with tables loaded with different dishes – Indian, continental, Italian, etc. etc. Fresh fruit counters, fresh fruit juices, all varieties of oats, cornflakes and breakfast cereals, cheese counter, varieties of bread, cakes and muffins, Indian breakfast items like poha, puri bhaji, stuffed parathas, live egg counter and more. The live South Indian food counter is refreshing with amazingly soft, light, fluffy idlis and dosas. I tried a little of about one-fourth of what was available and was full. So I decided to leave others for the next two breakfasts and returned to my room.

It was lunch time soon. I thought of using the room service of the hotel but then decided to go down again and try the local Marathi food from the a la carte menu of MOMO. At the restaurant, the variety at the buffet lunch too was fantastic as usual. Fresh salads counters, numerous Indian dishes, International food, noodles, a variety of biryanis, dal, delicious cakes and muffins and so on and so on….

I ordered the Marathi food from the regular menu though. Kanda Bhaji, Misal Paw. Kolhapuri vegetables, Amboli wrap, and Fodnicha bhaat took me straight into a rural Marathi home. The food was amazing and considering the fact that the Chef was not a native Marathi, it was a wonderful effort. The local fragrance was evident and I thoroughly enjoyed my local delicacies.  Kolhapuri vegetable was full of authentic local spices and flavours.

After the food, it was dessert time and instead of ordering the sweet dishes from the menu, I went straight to the Dessert counter of the buffet spread. It was outstanding. They were just wow! The Mango Saffron Cheesecake just melted in my mouth. The dessert counter had a huge variety and I being a sweet lover had a wonderful time.

It was the same story during dinner too. MOMO was running a Mexican Food Fiesta during my stay time at the hotel. And I tasted as many dishes as I could, but given the variety of food, I was full too soon. Just like the lunch time, the best part was after the meals, as I moved to the most amazing course of the meal, the desserts.

There were about 25 plus varieties of desserts on offer. Among the desserts there was Chocolate pudding, Date pudding, Yule log, Mince pie, Dundee cake, Strawberry cake, Key lime pie, Fresh fruit tart, Mango Saffron cheese-cake, Strawberry mousse, Butter Scotch cake, Pineapple mousse, Opera pastry etc. I loved the chocolate pudding the most…Just the right amount of softness is what I loved. The strawberry mousse, key lime pie and fresh fruit tart were also delicious.

It was the same routine next day and again for the third morning. I had some lovely time at least as far as the food is concerned at Courtyard by Marriot Pune Chakan. The food was mouthwatering, beautiful to look at and service amazing. I have never seen so much variety in a buffet spread. The F&B manager, the chef and the staff at MOMO, Courtyard by Marriott Chakan were gracious and loving hosts and floored me with a warm welcome and loving hospitality and some really amazing food. I would definitely come back for the food here.
