Exquisite Food bonanza at Park Plaza Zirakpur

Even though I am a ghass-phoos (vegetarian) eater, I love to go out and have good food and am always delighted to see and enjoy nicely presented food items. During my recent visit to Park Plaza. Zirakpur I had a fabulous experience. Meeting executive Chef Raman Preet Singh Ahluwalia and tasting his artistically crafted special menu for me made me feel special.

 

 

Park Plaza hotel in Zirakpur is a trend setter, its an upscale brand with stylish guest rooms, outstanding meeting spaces and dedicated staff. For dining, they have three options – Essence on the first floor, Zaranj and Free Spirit, both on the second floor, all three restaurants are unique and give you an entirely different kind of experience. 24 hours in-room dining facility is also available.

I had my first lunch at Essence, the largest and quite elegant restaurant at the hotel. Here for smokers too, they have a separate and comfortable smoking zone. I found the ambience quite magical, energetic and lively. I found the exec chef really amazing, his intuitional instincts totally floored me. He had very rightly sensed that since I was coming from Delhi, I must all be looking for a different cuisine.

Normally any chef would have served me the traditional Punjabi food, but this was not the scene here. It turned out to be an appetizing internationally flavoured meal. Superbly presented, Chef served me a four course meal that was simply superb.

His masterly crafted menu had showed that a lot of thought has gone into it. The menu seemed very condensed, and when the servings actually started I felt that the food might not be enough to fill my tummy. But I was wrong; as in the end I was thoroughly satisfied with the taste, quality and quantity of the food. It really was a sumptuous and enjoyable lunch.

I started with Blue Cheese, White Chocolate and Apple Soup. The sweet tasting soup was amazing. The tanginess of blue cheese coupled with the sweet chocolate and apple was yummy. For the starters I had Caramelled Pears, Sweet Lime, Sea Salt, Mesclun mix with Basil pesto. It was so artistically presented that I hated to put in the fork and break the setting. But then I finally did give in and finished it.

For the main course I had Guava, Corn and cheese Cannelloni and Olive Tapenade. Again it was the presentation that made me go wild with my camera. It tasted awesome.

The best part was still to come – the dessert to finish up the date at Essence. We were served three fabulous sweet items, Baked Yoghurt, Citrus Cheese Cake, and, Rose Leaf Compote and Dark Chocolate Truffle. Well the chef could not have done much more to make me happy – this was it – the grandeur – I was delighted.

That summed up our extravagant welcome at the hotel. I must say that I have not come across such a great gourmet experience with great presentations.

This was just the first meal we had at Park Plaza, and three more were to follow. Even though totally full, I already started looking forward for the evening encounters at the lounge Free Spirit and also the dinner at Zaranj.Reviews follow guys in short time….
