BURGER KING® completed one year in India on the 9th November 2015 and we were treated to a sumptuous treat at the same place, where the journey began- Select City Walk, Saket, New Delhi. BURGER KING® opened its first outlet in India on 9th November 2014 at Select City Walk Mall in Delhi and now operates 32 restaurants across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Punjab and Hyderabad and is all set to launch its first outlet in Chennai this month.
In a short span of a year, Burger King has succeeded to achieve a leadership position and this was the result of the brand’s extensive pre-opening research of Indian consumers mindset and then adopting the local demands to suit the Indian taste palates.
Earlier in the month, BURGER KING® in association with leading Hindi General Entertainment Channel, COLORS, launched the limited edition Whopper (R) to commemorate the successful completion of its first year of operations in India. The limited edition BIGG BOSS WHOPPER was unveiled in Mumbai by actress Neha Dhupia.
Speaking on the anniversary, Mr Rajeev Varman CEO BURGER KING India commented “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the response we’ve received in India. Coming back to our own Delhi, a tasting session of the limited edition Whopper, the BIGG BOSS WHOPPER was conducted to commemorate the successful completion of one year. We found the BIGG BOSS WHOPPER more juicy, saucy and it had a great fiery and crunchy flavour. It infact was a double delight for most of us in size as well as the authentic taste of an American Whopper.
The Whopper is available for Indian consumers in Veg, Chicken and Mutton variants till January 2016, along with other best selling burgers like tasty Chicken Tandoor Grill burger, Chicken Keema Crunch burger, and for vegetarians, the Veggie Chili Cheese Melt Burger, Pneer King Melt Burger etc. Even the Hi-Fries that the establishment serves has been re-launched in three variants – Cheesy, Italian and Chicken.
Along with these tasty burgers, the Whopper and the Hi-Fries we also quenched our thirsts with a few amazing coolers and also savoured a few thick milkshakes. And at the end of the session it was time for the desserts – and we were treated with the Orio and Gems flavoured ice-creams which were served in glasses kept upside down. Truly named 180°, the dessert did not fall out of the glasses but we then turned them, gulped and soon asked for a repeat order.
We were informed by the management team assisting us during our review that BURGER KING® has also introduced a very easy upgrade to combo pricing that helps customers enhance their dining experience. You can upgrade any burger to a combo including fries and a fountain drink at just INR 50 across the menu. The unique appeal for Burger King lies in the quality where the brand is conscious of its standards and uses 100 percent protein like chicken and mutton to form the patties and uses pulp of real fruit in its shakes. The quality is reflected clearly in the superior taste and helps the brand live up to its promise of ‘Taste is King’.
