Khali pet ka illaazz – Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken

IMG_5871Khali pet ka illaazz – Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken at Barcelos

Barcelos at the Khan Market, New Delhi never fail to come up with new culinary surprises for its patrons. A few days back it was ‘Salads and Sangria’ Festival, followed by ‘White Burgers’ and then the Milk Shakes, and now it was the turn of Chicken, ‘Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken’.

It’s winter time and what can be better than having your favourite Chicken cooked in new great ways. Accompanied with Sangria or the milk-shakes, it was a perfect combination of a sumptuous meal.

We ordered a Hey Rosy mocktail, which was absolutely divine. My colleague then ordered variants of Chicken dishes, leg pieces and the breast portions to satisfy his hungry soul and taste buds. They have kept their presentation simple and neat with focus on the main dish –the chicken in the platter. Today he just savoured the flame grilled chicken variants, and I tried a few vegetarian dishes from the menu. Just to enlighten- The peri peri term is derived from Swahili word Pili Pili- it conveys peppery /spicy chilli that is so apt for Indian taste buds.

Barcelos offers Mild Peri, Veri Peri or Supa Peri versions of the dish, and you can order as per your preference to the spiciness and portions. They are also very particular as mentioned, to marinate it for 24 hours, for a real taste experience.

My colleague ordered Veri Peri chicken and enjoyed the flavours in every bite of it.  The chicken was open flame grilled and he thoroughly relished it for the strength of its flavour and amazing sauces. It was grilled to keep the oil n fat levels at the lowest and also retaining the natural ingredients. It was very healthy yet tasty option, as was devoid of any rich oily and greasy curry- high on chicken quotient- absolutely brilliant.

How can we finish our sumptuous meal without savouring a few desserts? So we called for Hot Choco Brownies with Bean ice cream and Chocolate Fondant Vanilla bean with ice cream. Mama-mia – yummmy – thats all wee could say after a while as our plates got empty.

So to all my health conscious readers (or not so conscious) who are hardcore chicken lovers, and don’t care to compromise on taste, Barcelos is the must stop over when around Khan Market.

We finally bid bye to Barcelos with a promise to come back and treat our taste buds again with some more new dishes.

Note: Images of the dishes are of actual serving sizes.  Review done on invitation from the establishment and views expressed are entirely ours and without any bias. No monetary favour was received, but we did receive gift vouchers for our next visits.

Special Note: I am a pure vegetarian and I relished some of the other vegetarian delicacies like the burgers and salads, while my colleague feasted on Chicken. The views about the Chicken dishes are entirely his personal views and I have no say in those.
