Getting angry at Burger King

First it was the Angry Man (Amithabh Bacchhan in Bollywood), then we had the Angry Bird (every youth’s favourite) and now we have the Angriest Whopper. And I am sure it is also going to be as big as the other angry celebrities.

I have always been a great fan of BURGER KING™ ever since my first encounter in USA with them. Though being a vegetarian – I have had my good n bad times at Burger King outside India. In India they have very well mixed the ingredients and fillers to suit the Indian Veggie palates. Paneer, Cheese, Potato fillings have replaced the meat patties and are the best sellers for Burger King.

I found the Whopper very very RED n FURIOUS when they unveiled their Angriest WHOPPER™ recently at a tasting session at Select City Mall in Saket, New Delhi outlet. I guess it was really angry with me as I as not going to taste it on that day (coz of my Fasting). Anyways I got one packed for myself to be relished the next day and Ms Medha n Ms Anu happily got it packed for me.

Let me put in a few words about how great a host is Ms Anu and also Ms Medha. Even though there was plenty of other staff from Burger King to do the job, Ms Anu was always on her feet asking us what we wanted and serving us our requests, specially bringing cups of coffee fro me. Such a nice gesture – Hats off to you people.

Well now on to the Whopper. Medha told us that the regular Whopper has already been a big hit with the people of Delhi, so now wanting to do something new they have come out with this Angriest Whopper.

The next morning as I dig in to savour the Angriest whopper, I found it quite a furiously delicious sandwich atop a fiery red bun, baked with hot spices. It packed a punch in every blazing bite with crispy angry onion petals, spicy angry Habanero sauce and zesty jalapenos piled high atop the patty and layered with a slice of cheese, lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and creamy spicy mayonnaise between the red-hot buns.

Medha briefed me about the redness of the bun; it was because of mixing red chilies and a small amount of Beet root while making the dough of the buns. Care has been taken to use the right type of chilies with lesser amount of hotness but with proper colouring, so as not to burn holes in the patron’s tongue. Also the spices of the patty and the veggie fillings were controlled so as to make it delicious.

Mr. Rajeev Varman, Chief Executive Officer of the BURGER KING brand in India, said, “Consumer tastes in India are evolving and they are now ready for experimenting with new tastes and experiences and we as a brand are committed to introduce a whole new experience in burgers in India. After the hugely successful response to the Big Boss WHOPPER sandwich and Chicken Fries from the consumers, we decided that it was time to introduce another innovative product in India, this time with a red bun. The Angriest WHOPPER sandwich is a furiously delicious sandwich atop a fiery red bun, baked with hot spices, added angry onions, angry sauce and jalapenos. Each bite packs a fiery punch and that makes it a ‘Must Have’ burger of the year.
