What a Comic Show

Who does not like to smile and laugh their hearts out? And comics, cartoons, and animations are the best ways to do so. Everyone loves animations. I personally am a cartoon addict and am a die hard fans of all the comic shows that get aired now a days on channels.

And think of a situation where I can sit down and enjoy my meals among comic characters – can anything be better than that. Tom n Jerry, Donald Duck, Mickey mouse, Batman – oh so many were there at this extra comical restaurant. The name itself pulled me in it. Yes friends I am talking about ‘What a Comic Show” at SDA near IIT Gate in New Delh. Started by travel lover couple Pooja Moirangthem and Mr. Bhopen Chingtham, it is a great place serving some exotic multi-cuisine delicacies with a DESI touch at down to earth prices.

WACS is very easy to locate at SDA, It is right in front of the main road on Second floor. Once you enter the eatery, the ambiance and decor pulls you in. But be informed that the place is pretty medium spaced and it is full for most of the times.

I loved the way interiors are done with cartoons and more cartoons, not only adorning the walls but also tables lamps inside WACS. Its cartoon poster are all over and that create an interesting, cheerful, and bright ambiance. This place with a live music band, every evening cater to mainly the youth (with IIT and JNU around) .I loved the large wall sized book selves full of cartoon books.

I was welcomed by the smiling owner who very passionately explained me the concept and theme of this cute place. She also mentioned that they organise theme party based on different festivals and Halloween party is one of the best in town and not to be missed!

Seating comfortably on a bright yellow colored couch I started with mock-tails and relished Fantastic Four, a blue curacao, sour mix and lime soda drink and then a Frodo Watermelon, a concoction of watermelon, strawberry and lime soda. Both the drinks were very refreshing. Later I also enjoyed drinking Oreo milkshake and strawberry shake, real thick shakes which needed extra pull thru the straw.

The drinks menu had some comic names associated with them like Sandman, Superman etc.- true to the theme of space. Being vegetarian I ordered a continental super platter, mix of French fries, potato wedge, bruschetta, and mushroom triangles. It was a huge platter – should have been enough for three people. Mushroom triangle were the triangular shaped breads with generous topping of mushroom, n white sauce, French fries and potato were fresh n crisp, but the Bruschetta was a looser here.

Next I had a Chinese veggie platter, huge serving again and great combo of delicious veggie spring rolls, veggie wonton, stuffed potato, veggie shabalay and chilly paneer. A great lip smacking dish.

These two huge servings helped my tiny tummy fill up fast but I love anything sweet, so I tried Honey chilly potato and garlic bread with cheese. But as I was already full – I guess I didn’t like it much. The potatoes were over spiced.

Pooja wanted us to try out their veggie Momos, and I actually repented myself for not ordering this before. One of the best momos you get in Delhi.

Eating out at such a wonderful place cannot be complete without relishing desserts. So we had Choco brownie and choco ice cream, and waffle with vanilla ice-cream. Sound like an usual dessert – right guys, but it was different . Not like the Maggi Ketchup adv. – it was different. It was very artistically presented and the quality of the dessert was super. In spite of the fact that I was totally full, I finished up the dessert in a jiffy.

It was a great afternoon meal we had and would recommend the place to everybody – its excellent and the food is very pocket friendly, and this is the reason why this place is so popular with the student crowd in the area. The restaurant is also a favourite amongst the families and office goers in the area.
