Happened to attend Digital Services Asia 2016 – Asia Pacific’s largest and running Mobile VAS business forum (formerly known as “VAS Asia”) at LeMeridian New Delhi. Various leading operators, technology provider & app developers in the mobile space showcased platforms and solutions to support the roll out of life enriching digital services to boost industry revenues.
Fast paced and innovative Indian mobile economy seems to be greatly influencing the lives of consumers, shoppers & businesses. Most of our lifestyle, be it shopping, travelling, dining, working has direct interaction with mobile & mobile led services. Mobile has rapidly become a formidable channel to drive large & sustainable businesses such as retail, consumer products/services, payments, healthcare, education, entertainment and enterprise services among others.
Now in its 17th edition – Digital Services Asia 2016 was held on 7th July, 2016 at New Delhi, bringing together India’s top mobile innovators, entrepreneurs and marketing heads across sectors, as well as venture capital investors and consultants, who discussed and debated these new-age mobile-based products and services, and also discovered how they are changing many areas of Indian consumption and traditional business channels.
The forum covered areas such as what lies next for mobile commerce; how one masters the business and economics of mobile apps; innovation and traction in mobile-led entertainment products; mobile advertising; the next phase of mobile monetisation; mobile retail & payments and mobile gaming & music, among others.
The event was born in 2005, and over the years with a strong industry support & patronage the event has become the largest event on Mobile VAS & technology.
The event is being endorsed & supported by Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & IT, Govt. of India; Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI); ITU-APT; TUGI; Indian Cellular Association (ICA).
The most important conclusion reached at the conference was that the Indian Government policy needs to be aligned with the application development market in India so as to enable them to take a leadership position and maximize the revenue of this vertical. Currently, India is the world’s second largest user of applications and 2017-18, the country is expected to have the largest developer base.
These Digital Services are all set to create a new world of consumer benefit and open enormous enterprise opportunities while benefiting people in every direction, agreed all the experts.
