Riot of foodie flavours @Flavothon at Cha Bar

If you are a Delhite and not been to Cha Barat the Oxford book store in N block Connaught place – then you are not considered a Chai or Tea loving book reader. Well, Cha Bar is one of those iconic spots in Delhi which serves you more than 150 options when it comes to Tea along with snacks matching the flavours of the tea that you are sipping.

Last week, Cha Bar, organised “Flavothon” a food lovers meet with Executive Chef Abhishek Basu from The Park sharing tips on multi-dimensional cuisines paired with exclusive teas from the extensive Cha Bar menu. Flavothon showcased Cha Bar’s new menu items mouthwatering dishes like Erachi Pathri, Turkish Sigara, Spinach and Feta Cheese Quiche, Cocktail Sausage Rolls, Dahi Bhalla Chaat and a range of fresh desserts like Gulabjamun Cheese Cake, Flurry’s Heritage Chocolate Boat, Pineapple Colada Muffin, Coconut Cookies paired with teas like Arabic Spice , Bollywood Mix , Cha Bar Blend , Moroccon Mint, Khobong, Makaibari , South Indian Organic Coffee , First flush, Ginger Cha , Truck drivers 100 Meel Ki Chai, Earl Grey, Gulaab, Tulsi, Peppermint , English Breakfast and Gunpowder(Pearl Tea).

was lucky to be present at the event and relish a few of the veggie options that they had like the Dahi Bhalla Chat and Gulab jamun Cheesecake. The dessert was amazing – chef Basu has done wonders by retaining the flavours of both the gulabjamun and the cheesecake. It was a lipsmacking dessert and I happened to go in for multiple helpings.

Dahi bhalla chat was also amazing. I felt like eating a Dahi Vada at home – made in the traditional Rajasthani style. And the Orange Spicer cup of the zesty tea. It was heavenly – loved the combination of sweet Gulabjamun cheesecake and the spices in the tea. Heavenly!!!

But there were a mishaps too. I didn’t taste all most of the other delicacies – as everything was mixed. I think they should have taken care not to mix the veggie dishes with non-veggie ones. Its not a problem for non-vegetarians but for the vegetarian audience – it was a big problem.

You are doing a great job team Cha Bar, but Please take care of the above problem.

About Cha Bar:

Cha Bar is the first of its kind urban contemporary space that created a rage in Kolkata in year 2000, turning tea from a dry page in history to a lifestyle drink! Ms Priti Paul’s brain child backed by generations of Apeejay Surrendra group’s experience in tea plantation business, Cha Bar was created as an integral part of more than 90 years old iconic Oxford Bookstore in city centre Park Street. The concept was expanded pan India integrated into Oxford Bookstores and customers loved the experience of being able to browse at leisure, leafing through the books of their choice, over a cup of tea from the wide selection available at the Cha Bar or simply unwinding with friends sipping the rejuvenating beverage, iced or piping hot!

Whether one prefers a rich, full-bodied, strong flavor, or a light fragrant taste, the Cha Bar offers a wide and enviable choice. Cha Bar believes that there is indeed nothing quite like a good cup of tea so every cup of blend we serve has journeyed, be it from the dhabas in India or from across the Globe from other cultures. Today, Cha Bar offers this experience at Oxford Bookstores across multiple stores in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.
