A Vegetarian Confectionery – Mr Brown

I was delighted when Mr Brown Bakery’s latest edition at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad invited us for a review. What more can a veggie blogger who has a big sweet tooth want – An invite from a Purely vegetarian Confectionery! Yeah right folks, Mr Brown serves only pure vegetarian cakes, pastries, cookies and snacks.

It was a day of heavy rains, but still we found the owners, Mr Piyush and his cousin waiting for us. The smiles on faces of the staff already made us feel at home and then talking with the owners made us feel great.

The outlet is on the ground floor of a residential complex, and has been greatly designed. The floor area was supposed to be a flat – and hence a number of pillars. It was difficult to design the outlet with so many pillars, but they have done a fantastic job of putting up such a great décor.

You start smelling breads and cookies and pastries right at the moment you enter the outlet. On my left I could see in-house prepared Cookies and Breads. A little ahead on my right it was a display of in-house made chocolates, with a huge table of freshly baked Cookies (for tasting), and a counter of Cakes & Pastries and freshly prepared food (Sandwiches, Burgers, Beverages).

We quickly settled down in the spacious and tastefully done indoor area (would have loved to sit out in the outdoors, but it was raining heavily). Mr. Pankaj joined us and then started a heavy rain of the goodies for us to savour.

We started with a variety of cookies. We tried Almond flakes, Butter, Salted, Mix dry fruits, Zeera puff and a few others. The best of the lot was the Almond Flake cookie. I have never eaten almonds so nicely baked with just honey. The honey added slight sweetness and the flaky crisp cookie was a masterpiece.

Moving on to other snacks we had Mr Brown Special Pizza, Paneer Naan, Paneer Tikka Sub, Chilli cheese. Chinese roll, Baked Samosa, and Corn Patties.

And then finally on to the sweets we tried Fresh Fruit Pastry, Choco Truffle and White forest.

I liked Almond flakes, Paneer Naan and Fresh Fruit Pastry. Fresh Fruit Pastry was one of the best cakes/pastries ever eaten. Eggless and so soft and fresh – it was awesome. The usage of fresh fruits enhanced its value and taste.

We certainly had a gala time at Mr Brown and even on my way back home I was thinking of the Almond flakes cookie, it really was a wonder – made of just almond flakes dipped in honey and baked. No flour or any other material – this cookie surely can help you win the heart of your partner this Valentine’s day.
