Eat with your Eyes first….

 

Eat an exquisite dish with your Eyes first, and then dig into it to satisfy your appetite. That’s what Master Chef Dinesh Patel advised me during a recent interaction with him. It was during the Culinary Escapade with Master Chef India Season 5 Top 3 Finalist, Dinesh Patel and Ms Alka Ladhani at Radisson Blu, Agra. I also agreed with him, as I too love to appreciate art forms in any field, and specially in food – artistic presentations are to be appreciated before they can be disturbed so as to savour them.

Chef Dinesh mentioned that for him cooking is an art form and he loves experimenting with his presentations. He also likes to play with the texture and experiments with his love and signature desserts. Dinesh has a great vision; he creates Art forms with his dishes. He does not like to be compared with anyone, and feels that his hard work will enable him to create a niche place for him in future.

The advice he wants to give to people who want to be chef – is to concentrate on hard work, experiment with your creations and do not get let down by criticism. This mantra helped him a lot during the season 5 of Master Chef, he added.

Dinesh though trained to be a lawyer, but his passion and love for baking has given us a promising Dessert King. He owes his cooking skills to his grandmother and his favourite dish is Prawns which his grandma and now he himself specialise in.

Well coming back to the culinary escapade at Radisson Blu, Agra, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Paritosh Ladhani, Executive Director, Radisson Blu, Agra. And then the spectacle started with Chef Dinesh demonstrating his skills by presenting a two course meal; a non-veggie salad and a signature dessert of his for the guest attending the event. He kept the audience riveted and actively participating with his interactive demonstration. During the course of his cooking he kept on giving fine tips and answered whatever queries were raised by the eminent audience.

Since this was his first visit to Agra, the city of love and also the city of Petha, he named his salad as “Agra Petha Savoury Salad” and also saluting the Nawabi culture, he named his dessert as the “Shahi Tukra Summer Pudding.”

After the cooking session, during a brief presentation Dinesh further added,  “I feel extremely thrilled to be a part of the master class hosted by the gorgeous Radisson Blu hotel in the beautiful city of Agra. It’s always an amazing feeling to meet new people and cook for them. I’m so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to share my love of cooking and food with so many more people through this master class.”

And then we were treated with the culinary wonders created by Dinesh and it surely was a delight to eyes as well as my taste buds. We also feasted on a sumptuous lunch served by the efficient team at Radisson Blu, Agra before heading to appreciate the wonder of the world, the TajMahal during Sunset hours.
