The summers of Delhi were unbearable last year. So as soon as I got a confirmation to attend the International Travel bloggers/media conference at Kathmandu, I got my bags packed and took the next available flight. The conference and also the Himalayan Travel Mart was organised by PATA, Nepal chapter and they had my stay arrangements at the Aria Boutique Hotel & Spa on JP Road, Thamel in Kathmandu.
As soon as I entered Thamel I started getting a positive vibe and Aria hotel added essence to the feelings. The hotel though located in a narrow lane had a charm of its own. The front of the hotel invited me in. The staff welcomed me with a smile on their faces and was escorted to my luxurious room. The hotel also had a multi-cuisine restaurant where I went in for the breakfast on all days of my stay.
The rooms were good enough in size, had an original look, and were adorable and comfortable. Though the hotel is in a very busy area, the room was quite and I did have a great sleep on all the two nights that I was here. The bathrooms, linen and towels were clean and well kept.
For me the biggest advantage I got was its location. Being in the most frequented tourist locality where they also have a lively night life too, it gave me ample opportunities to go out for short walks and do my photography.
I would recommend it to every tourist coming in to Kathmandu who is keen on exploring a tourist town and not just enjoy five star hotel luxuries. Aria certainly is a gem of all the Thamel hotels.
